Solis: the third-largest global inverter manufacturer!
You do not need to have done your research to know about Solis. This world-famous string inverter expert has built up an unparalleled reputation for quality and innovation over its more than 15 years of experience in solar, earning it a leading position in the global PV industry and a long list of awards.
For example, Solis was recently awarded the prestigious EUPD Research ‘Top PV Inverter Brand’ title for the eighth year in a row — a testament to its unwavering commitment to excellence. And that is not even its latest or greatest win.
In June, the findings from S&P Global’s annual market tracker were released. Unsurprisingly, they saw Solis add another accolade to its name…
A second consecutive win
S&P Global’s most recent rankings are based on data from 2022, in which the research organisation’s experts collated, reviewed, analysed and cross-checked market data from sources like audited financial reports to deduce which organisations performed best throughout the year.
Having accumulated a total production capacity of 40GW in the researched year and achieved year-on-year growth of more than 500 percent in the energy storage inverter segment (according to Sandy Woodward, the general manager for Solis Europe and South Africa), S&P Global placed Solis third in its list of the biggest inverter manufacturers in the world.
This momentous title, which Solis also achieved last year, speaks volumes about the manufacturer’s recent endeavours to ramp up its operations, increasing its investments in research and development (R&D) by 74% in 2022, and hints at an equally successful year to come.
Solis says it is set to double its current production capacity to 80W this year, bringing installers even more of the products they know and love — an exciting prospect if the brand’s newest inverter line is anything to go by.
Award-winning products
The S6 Pro Advanced range hit the Solis portal earlier this year, promising new features that are perfectly suited to the demands of the South African market and building on what is included in the brand’s existing offering.
For instance, these hybrid models offer:
- Improved PV string currents and higher DC/AC ratios to support larger-wattage panels.
- Outstanding uninterruptible power supply (UPS) switching times of 4 milliseconds for seamless supplies.
- The ability to support both single and three-phase parallel connections with up to six inverters, aiding in scalability.
- Higher charge and discharge currents, reducing downtime.
- Generator inputs with automatic on/off switching, which streamlines off-grid power.
Other notable features of the S6 Pro Advanced inverters include the dual MPPT designs, wide voltage ranges and maximum efficiencies of up to 97.5%, resulting in optimised solar power generation where end-users get the most out of their investment.
What’s more, in keeping with Solis’ entire inverter offering, these new and improved products are equipped with enhanced safety features, including integrated arc-fault circuit (AFCI) protection that mitigates fire risks. Plus, they boast IP66 ratings for worry-free outdoor use.
To top it all off, the S6 Pro Advanced units come with a Wi-Fi stick for remote monitoring via SolisCloud and have generous warranties of up to 10 years. It really does not get much better than this when it comes to hybrid inverters!
