New chapters with SegenSolar
Much change is afoot at SegenSolar.
Not only have we been acquired by Labora Holdings Ltd, but we recently unveiled a brand-new warehouse in Durban! And as the world begins to heal, we are beginning to think about the return of our renowned face-to-face customer training events.
Brand-new Durban facility
We are delighted to announce the opening of our new Durban warehouse at DB Schenker at King Shaka International Airport.
This brand-new facility will give our KwaZulu Natal customers quicker access to our vast product portfolio in a local, convenient location.
Localised for the convenience of our customers, this is an all-new SegenSolar site for both collections and deliveries, providing easy access to stock for quicker and simpler orders. What’s more, the warehouse offers improved stock availability on the new dedicated Durban portal. This new facility should simplify our customers’ order processing and collections, saving both time and money.
Collection times will be from 09h00 to 16h00, Monday to Friday.
Segen becomes a subsidiary
September was an eventful month for the SegenSolar team after the Segen Group was bought by Labora Holdings Ltd: the parent company of electrical products and services supplier City Electrical Factors.
We are incredibly excited about this new development as Labora acquires 100% of Segen — including the SegenSolar subsidiary in South Africa and Segen GmbH in Europe. As a whole, the business is set to benefit significantly from the new scope and scale that Labora has to offer, creating new opportunities for our manufacturer partners and our loyal customers.
The proposed acquisition received the relevant regulatory approval, and the transaction was completed on the 6th of October 2021. Segen will continue to operate as a stand-alone company, performing the same business our customers know and love. However, we are now able to benefit from a whole new set of resources and can begin exploring ways to offer our customers even more solutions and procurement options.
In-person training is on the horizon…
Since May 2020, SegenSolar has not let a single month pass by without a series of training webinars for its installer customers.
These webinars were intended initially to serve as a temporary replacement for our popular face-to-face training events. The in-person sessions were attended by hundreds of installers each month. They provided an exceptional opportunity for solar professionals in South Africa to get hands-on training with various products and upskill their PV knowledge.
But as the pandemic hit and social distancing restrictions came into play, we had to find an alternative way to keep our installers informed and confident with the latest solar equipment.
Over the past 18 months, we have collaborated with some of the most prominent global players in the solar industry, such as Solis, Victron Energy, Pylontech, Sunsynk and KODAK, providing high-quality online training on these company’s solar products — for free. Installers can ask questions and receive a live response via Slido, and all webinar presentations are saved on the portal if customers would like to refer back.
However, we are entering a new post-pandemic era with fewer restrictions. And the appetite for in-person training is stronger than ever!
While we have no intentions of putting an end to the webinars in their entirety, we are very excited to re-introduce our face-to-face training in 2022. So, be sure to keep an eye out for the official relaunch of SegenSolar’s in-person events.
