Meet Michael: SegenSolar’s newest team member

SegenSolar is delighted to say there is a new member of the team on the ground in South Africa.

Michael Lappin joined SegenSolar in November 2019 from a reputable solar company called MSolar, based in Kenya. Michael also has extensive experience working with the sales, financial and stock-holding aspects of a company in Kenya. He prides himself on his ability to work cross-culturally.

On joining his former Kenyan team in January of 2012, Michael had little-to-no experience with the local market but managed to take the company from strength to strength in five short years until his departure in 2017. He was involved in setting up a new branch of the company and in doing so, expanded his customer base significantly. While managing a large workforce in the industrial sector, Michael learned to be responsible for all areas of company operations, including compliance and accountability. His knowledge and skills of how to understand a local market are unrivalled, and he works to consistently deliver genuine benefits to customers.

As SegenSolar’s new sales and operations manager in Cape Town, Michael’s experience will aid him significantly when settling into his role within the organisation. Within the team, Michael is responsible for the direct management and development of the Cape Town office as well as engaging in market research. With his previous knowledge of African solar markets thanks to his experience in Kenya, Michael is already demonstrating his capabilities in getting to grips with South Africa.

You’ll be sure to see more of Michael in the future!
